Explore butterflies and caterpillars and even eggs UP CLOSE! Use a hand lens to distinguish between different types of eggs and caterpillars. Study butterfly scales through a microscope! Examine which plants are best for pollinators. Be a scientist and participate in real data collection. In this five-day camp, butterfly volunteers will lead campers through hands-on lessons, engaging science projects, and various pollinator activities. Topics for study include habitat, life cycles, coloration and defense, and butterfly behaviors. Campers will leave with an appreciation for butterflies and other pollinators. All campers will also receive a caterpillar keeper/cage and caterpillar to raise at home!
Basic reading skills are required, and students should bring a sack lunch and water bottle.
